This School Years Rising Fashion Trends

Image
In high school, there’s an endless amount of style and diversity. As fall is now knocking at our door, let's analyze some of the trends we’ve seen so far this year.  Firstly, Polka-Dots. These have been a major look recently, mostly seen in nails. Many students' go-to pedicures consist of quirky polka-dot patterns, often in shades of blue. Dots have been all the rave on Pinterest in the past year, continuing to grow in popularity with no end in sight. Aside from mani-peds, dots are also being implemented into different fabrics and accessories. Dotted headbands, handkerchiefs, and even eccentric overalls are popping up more lately. How To Get Rid Of Acne: Cutting Out Sugar

Image
Entering high school is a pivotal turning point in everyone's life, and even though it's where some of the best memories can be made, every teen has their lows. Mine was acne. One day, I woke up and was a thirteen-year-old girl, raving over how excited I was to be going into high school – the next, I was fifteen, at the height of puberty with my hormones all over the place.       I quickly realized that I wasn’t a little girl anymore who could stay up all night, stuffing my face with every sugary-carb-packed snack I wanted. After struggling with acne from my freshman year up to my senior year, it became my greatest insecurity that I had no clue how to fix. And so, I decided to do some research. Eventually, I identified the problem. Hormonal acne.   ...

Daddy Issues: The Scar It Leaves

Image
Daddy Issues, The Scar It Leaves My sixteenth birthday was four months away when I met him for the first time. I was fifteen, a sophomore. Fifteen years my father was absent. Fifteen years I had waited for his explanation, waited to be seen, just for him to have moved on without me. I was apprehensive at first, weary of his intentions. Why’d he suddenly decide to come back? To reconcile?            But after a few promises and compliments, I caved in without question. He swore he’d help with my college tuition, pay for my upcoming birthday party, and even talked about attending my graduation. It took twenty-four hours for me to start calling him dad. A week to forget about the past. And it took barely a month for it all to come undone. What started innocently: daily texts, FaceTime calls, and checkups throughout the day – soon turned into messages left on read and missed phone calls.            Three months, th...
